About the Author
Vali Stone was born in Toronto, Ontario, and now resides in Newmarket with her husband Paul, a police constable with Toronto Police Service, and their two children, Michelle and Trevor. A graduate of York University, she has published poetry, written a weekly newspaper column, and is a regular contributor to a police magazine.
Vali has formed support groups and worked intensively with police spouses to better understand the dynamics of the police family. She has developed a wellness program for police departments and speaks at conferences throughout Canada and the United States.

Should be mandatory reading for all LEO and their spouses

This is an excellent book and so accurately describes the daily struggles that go on during the life of a police family. It literally saved the life of my husband. I read this book after he asked for a divorce a few months ago. He was severely depressed, angry, and self destructive. I highlighted large sections of this book that I observed in our life and the changes in his personality. I gave it to him to read and he refused for several weeks. Once he finally started reading it he could not put it down. He has since been diagnosed with depression and has started counseling. Several months ago he thought this was all psycho babble. He now realizes how the job has changed him and affected our marriage and his relationship with his children and his family and close friends. He has been in law enforcement for 9 years and has admitted to the changes discussed in this book happening within the first year on the job. He now cannot understand why this book is not given to every cadet enrolled in the police academy. I have bought additional copies to give to the wives of other officers he works with who I know are going thru similar struggles dealing with the issues of being a law enforcement family. I would highly recommend this book to anyone with a law enforcement officer in their family. Please read it carefully from cover to cover. It may save the life of your loved one and prevent you from the pain and heartbreak others have endured. I feel so lucky to have found this book on Amazon. It has truly changed my life after reading it and I now understand how he turned into a totally different person than the man I married 18 years ago, when he had a "normal" job and was not a LEO.
