Pecks Bad Boy and His Pa

My family grew up with this book with my father reading summer nights at our cabin with lantern light. I can't read the story to my grandkids without falling apart with laughter. I sent it to a cousin who was recently reminiscing about our childhood. He plans to keep it on his shelf next to his holy bible.

My grandfather born in the late 1800's always talked about his favorite book "Peck's Bad Boy". I was born in the 1940's and was not familiar with this book, so when I saw it was available on my kindle I wanted to read it. It was a fun book, and it helped me get a better glimpse into my grandfather's childhood. He was not Peck's bad boy but perhaps he liked a lot to the tricks that Peck's boy played and had wished he could have done them. Thanks for a good read, plus being able to go back in time and be with my grandfather as he told me all about Peck's bad boy.

Every boy who ever lived has enjoyed playing tricks on the grumpy people in their neighborhood who always called the police or kept their baseball.
Theses stories really test the imagination but telling them through the grocer was genius.
Many years later tony soprano highlighted a lot of his problems through his psychiatrist.
George Peck, the author, later became the governor of Wisconsin.

Needed knowledge

Just a quick note about this book, 'The Kitchen Table Book'. I'm one who grew up with a grandmother, that was raised in the country and in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Dr's were either not available or came at a premium. Hence, a lot of 'cures' came from home remedies and basic nutrition. This book shows in detail the benefits from the foods and spices we normally consume. It fits very well with what my grandmother was raised with and what she imparted to us along the way. It is the kind of book that should be on every kitchen table and followed as to daily nutrition. By utilizing the knowledge found in these pages, one should be able to reduce the need for doctor visits, with the exception of catastrophic events. By understanding the health benefits for the various foods, most people should be able to maintain good health without the use of supplements and multiple, doctor-prescribed medications. This book is a great guide towards that goal.

From the very first page you'll be hooked in; there are surprising therapeutic uses for pretty much every staple you have in your pantry and fridge. I took the time to research several of the items that were recommended and found substantial documentation to back up the recommendations, medical abstracts & studies etc. I am not a fan of books that pimp supplements or vits or certain alleged superfoods that are based on he-said/she-said non-factual hype. Peter Atterton is Associate Professor of Philosophy at San Diego State University. Matthew Calarco is Assistant Professor of Philosophy at California State University, Fullerton. Together they have coauthored On Levinas and coedited Animal Philosophy: Ethics and Identity; The Continental Ethics Reader; and (with Maurice Friedman) Levinas and Buber: Dialogue and Difference.
