Excellent continuation of the series! This lady can write!

Before I started this book, I went back and re-read both Into The Woods (Book 1) and The Call of the Dark (Book 2). Not because I had to in order to pick up this book, but because I just wanted to because I liked them so much. I’m glad I did, the re-read just made me realize all over again how well this lady can write. This new book, ShadowFae (Book 3), is no exception. I really enjoyed it. I liked how the author picked up the story twenty years after the close of book two and by doing so was able to pick someone from the next generation to be the new main character. That isn’t to say that we don’t have the characters from the previous books! Gods are immortal, and elves are near enough to immortal to be around for centuries or more…
The new main character, as you can see from the blurb is Dare. Dare is the son of Odelia and Khari, but by default since Khari and Eden are the two halves of Orien, Dare is actually the son of all three. Dare has been raised by his mother, and reads as kind of a spoiled young man who is used to getting his own way. I really liked Dare once I got to know him, and his surprising love interest in the book…who came from left field, I think I liked even more. No spoilers on that. But I had my reasons…you can ask me why AFTER you read the book!
This volume is as full of adventure as the previous two. The war between the humans and elves is still going on. Vast swathes of the human world are uninhabitable, due to incursions from the bad elves who’ve been wiping out the humans since the middle of book two. Dare and some familiar faces from the previous books will be thrust into the middle of the war, as you would expect, but there will be some twists along the way.
The only part of the book I didn’t like was somewhere around 70% of the way through the book. No spoilers, but something happens to a character that I really liked…and it kind of made me grumpy. Not grumpy enough to not finish the book of course!
Enough said. If you’ve read the first two books, you will definitely want to read this one. If you haven’t read them, and you like m/m fantasy, then what are you waiting for?
I highly recommend this book and this series. I can’t wait for the next book in the series!

Kathleen has busted wide open the human condition.

This amazingly talented author has once again outdone herself with this latest installment in the series. I have read her stories in burst. The emotions that her words invoke are almost overwhelming at times. Her development of characters who are tangible, touchable, real, along with her gifted way to pull you in the the world she has created, makes these stories something to be remembered for many many moons.
Kathleen has busted wide open the human condition. She has done more than bring our existence to focus under a microscope. If this series were to become movies (and I certainly would love that to be true) people would leave the theaters in shock and awe, perhaps speechless.
To avoid the risk of writing a novel about this novel, I will refrain from sharing all my loves about this book. I will, however, share this ... I love the characters. To me, they feel like family.

I loved this book

When I finished book two of Searching for Eden I thought what a lose the story had ended. Image my surprise when book three came out. This story takes place twenty years later, Dare son of Khari, Eden and Odilia is a grown conflicted young man, and the war that had begun in book two has raged on. The is a bit of angst and drama in this book but there is a beautiful love story as well. Can't wait for the next installment.
